EthLabs updates Ethereum interoperability, PropAMMs, and funding progress in ‘Week 2’ release
July 6, 2026
EthLabs founder Barnabé Monnot recently released the “Week 2” update, providing insight into the team’s progress throughout the launch and fundraising phase, as well as outlining key directions for ecosystem discussions. The team has been focusing on interoperability, with a particular emphasis on asynchronous interoperability based on zero-knowledge proofs. This approach is expected to strengthen cross-chain bridges and improve the distribution of assets within Ethereum’s layer system.
While some cross-chain routes are experiencing delays, especially in the L2→L1 direction, EthLabs is implementing the intents mechanism as a transitional solution. Additionally, having adequate L1 liquidity is crucial for matching cross-chain solvers. On the other hand, progress is being made to reduce confirmation delays in the L1→L2 path through the Fast Confirmation Rule (FCR), a mechanism already being adopted by certain clients.
Ecosystem discussions have centered around Proposal-based Automated Market Makers (PropAMMs), which have garnered interest from various teams and researchers for their potential to optimize L1 execution efficiency and block building. Simultaneously, there is a strong focus on the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) as a vital infrastructure component, prompting active engagement with stakeholders to drive its development forward.
EthLabs has received over 300 applications to date, with approximately 20% already processed. The short-term goal is to expand the team to around 10 members, with a medium-term target of reaching about 20 individuals. The recruitment strategy emphasizes hiring professionals with engineering expertise and domain knowledge.
Regarding funding, EthLabs is close to finalizing its current funding round, having already secured early support from BitMNR, Sharplink, and Ethereum Joseph. The team aims to onboard 1–2 core investors before proceeding to the next stage of development.
Overall, EthLabs is making significant strides in its endeavors, with a clear roadmap for the future. The team’s commitment to enhancing interoperability, fostering ecosystem discussions, expanding its team, and securing necessary funding underscores its dedication to driving innovation within the Ethereum community.
