Hoskinson: ADA Holders Are the True Owners of Cardano, Governance Is Genuine
May 25, 2026
Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, recently reiterated his strong dedication to the blockchain project amidst ongoing governance tensions within the ecosystem. Despite weeks of disputes surrounding governance issues, Hoskinson remains committed to Cardano’s success.
Hoskinson highlighted the significance of recent governance processes, emphasizing that they underscore the effectiveness of Cardano’s decentralized governance structure. He pointed out that these disputes have demonstrated the operational functionality of Cardano’s governance system, showcasing the active involvement of $ADA holders and delegated representatives in influencing crucial ecosystem decisions.
In light of recent events, Hoskinson emphasized that $ADA holders are no longer mere passive investors but integral owners of the Cardano network. He stressed the importance of community engagement in governance matters, placing greater value on participation than the specific outcomes of individual proposals.
The series of controversial treasury votes that recently took place revealed varying stances among DReps regarding spending priorities and the long-term trajectory of the network. While certain proposals were approved, others were rejected, revealing growing divisions within the community.
One of the contentious proposals involved funding activities related to Token2049 Singapore and Cardano Summit 2026 by withdrawing 14 million $ADA from the treasury. Despite initial rejection by DReps, Hoskinson emphasized the significance of ecosystem visibility and user onboarding for Cardano’s sustained growth, signaling his ongoing commitment to enhancing the project’s global presence.
As part of his renewed dedication, Hoskinson confirmed his attendance at the upcoming Cardano Summit in Singapore, where he plans to advocate for Cardano on the main stage. Additionally, he expressed his intention to elevate Cardano’s sponsorship level at Token2049 to enhance the ecosystem’s global exposure, believing that both platforms provide valuable opportunities for Cardano and Midnight Foundation’s voices to be heard.
Hoskinson also commended the Pentad, a group comprising organizations like Input Output Global, EMURGO, Cardano Foundation, Midnight Foundation, and Intersect, for their collaborative efforts in driving critical ecosystem integrations when needed. He urged these entities to engage in extensive discussions to formalize their coordination within Cardano’s evolving governance framework.
Cardano Foundation CEO Frederik Gregaarp supported the call for enhanced collaboration among Pentad organizations, offering to host Hoskinson and other ecosystem leaders in Switzerland for discussions aimed at aligning their efforts in a cohesive direction. Gregaarp emphasized the importance of alignment over unnecessary governance complexities, signaling a positive step towards strengthened coordination within the Cardano ecosystem.
