Cardano’s web3 wallet, Lace, has undergone a series of enhancements recently with the introduction of the Lace 2.0 extension. This update combines Cardano, Midnight, and Bitcoin into one seamless platform, allowing users to manage their assets without the need to switch between different wallets or interfaces. The Lace team announced the improvements for Lace version releases in a recent tweet.

The latest release, Lace 2.0.3, addresses issues that some users encountered, such as a white screen preventing migration or connection to DApps. It also fixed problems with legacy wallets imported from Nami and brought improvements to DApp connector visibility, stability, and loading indicators. Additionally, Lace 2.0.4 introduced a default view mode, enabling users to switch between Side Panel and Tab views with an automatic fallback mechanism. An auto-lock timer was also added in the Wallet Settings to reduce password prompts, along with fixes for missing translations in Spanish and Japanese labels.

Meanwhile, Cardano is gearing up for an intra-era hard fork to Protocol Version 11, known as the Van Rossem hard fork. This upgrade focuses on enhancing Plutus performance, ledger consistency, and node security without requiring a transition to a new era. The update includes improvements in VRF key uniqueness, updated reference input rules, and enhanced primitives to streamline integration. The Van Rossem hard fork is scheduled to take place towards the end of June 2026, with significant progress being made in preparation and ecosystem readiness.

In recent weeks, Cardano has rolled out the Cardano Node version 11.0.1 in Pre-Release, a critical step for the upcoming hard fork. Additionally, the consensus team has been actively working on developing the Leios prototype as part of the Treasury Funding Initiative 4. Bugs in the Leios prototype have been addressed, leading to the successful launch of a Leios testnet running the prototype.

These updates signify Cardano’s commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in the blockchain space. The integration of Cardano, Midnight, and Bitcoin into a unified platform through Lace 2.0 demonstrates the project’s focus on user experience and accessibility. With the impending Van Rossem hard fork and ongoing development efforts, Cardano is poised to enhance its performance, security, and functionality, reaffirming its position as a leading player in the decentralized finance sector.
