A cryptocurrency mining company from Singapore has recently unveiled its latest investment – a manufacturing facility in Sparks, Nevada, bringing in $20 million and numerous well-paying job opportunities to the region. BitDeer, renowned for its expertise in bitcoin mining technology, showcased its new manufacturing hub, that according to BitDeer Industrial Chairman Paul Hanson, will greatly benefit the local economy.

Hanson emphasized the importance of returning to manufacturing in the United States, as it not only boosts the business sector but also contributes to overall economic growth. The facility is expected to create 70 high-paying jobs, focusing on producing SEALMINER products integral to bitcoin mining, such as circuit boards, server chips, and capacitor resistors, with an estimated output of 10,000 units monthly. These advanced computers are designed to solve complex mathematical algorithms crucial for bitcoin mining operations worldwide.

Discussing the rationale behind selecting Sparks as their manufacturing base, BitDeer CEO Catherine Guo pointed out several key factors that influenced their decision. She highlighted the presence of a skilled workforce, robust logistic infrastructure in Reno, and an extremely favorable business climate as the driving forces behind this choice.

Traditionally, bitcoin mining operations consume significant amounts of power and water. However, BitDeer’s leadership reassured that their facility will utilize 3 to 5 megawatts of power and 400,000 to 500,000 gallons of water annually, significantly less than what a typical data center requires. This new facility will operate on a much smaller scale compared to traditional mining operations, consuming only about as much water as three households daily.

Within the region’s business ecosystem, the company worked closely with Governor Joe Lombardo and local authorities to secure tax incentives, resulting in a reduction of sales taxes from 6% to 2% on qualifying transactions. Guo expressed the company’s enthusiasm for establishing roots in Nevada and underscored their commitment to becoming an integral part of the local community.

Looking ahead, products from the Sparks facility are expected to be rolled out by January 2027, showcasing BitDeer’s innovative approach to manufacturing technology and its commitment to fostering economic growth and technological advancement in the United States.
