Weekly update #109 for the week of May 1, 2026
May 3, 2026
Intersect’s update #109 marks the end of April, highlighting key developments such as the ongoing Budget 2026 process, the conclusion of Intersect Committee elections 2026, and the upcoming Constitutional Committee election process in May.
In preparation for the van Rossem hard fork, Intersect is actively fulfilling its role as a technical steward and coordinator. The hard fork working group has ramped up its meeting cadence to meet the demands of the phased rollout across Preview, PreProd, and Mainnet.
Cardano’s upgrades are progressing smoothly as readiness aligns across nodes, infrastructure, and the ecosystem. The working group has finalized the execution strategy, addressed tooling gaps, and ensured operational readiness. Node v10.7.1 has been released with a fix for heap size performance issues, prompting SPOs to update. Node v11.0 is now in a stable state awaiting final release, while DB-Sync version 13.7.0.4 tackles critical issues for testnet upgrades.
Indicative dates have been set for the Mainnet hard fork submission on May 29, 2026, following Preview and PreProd forks. The working group has adopted a “Plan A” approach to ensure a seamless transition. Plutus cost models are being fine-tuned to enhance DApp adaptability. Operational changes, including twice-weekly meetings and improved communication channels, aim to maintain delivery momentum.
The upcoming Constitutional Committee elections, starting on May 8, 2026, will offer a dedicated process for members to engage in shaping Cardano’s governance. This delay allows for a smooth transition from the Intersect Committee elections and promotes undivided attention to budget proposal submissions. More information can be found on the CC Election 2026 overview page.
The Constitutional Amendment Process (CAP) Working Group’s efforts reflect the community’s commitment to evolving Cardano’s governance transparently and inclusively. The nine core principles underpinning the process ensure resilience and legitimacy from its inception. Distinctions between Amendment Proposals and Issue Statements allow for targeted problem-solving or broader change proposals. CAP Editors will guide the process while maintaining the author’s ownership. The introduction of an Amendment Wizard aims to simplify the drafting and consultation phases for users.
In governance actions, the recent closure of the Pebble + Gerolamo – HLabs 2026 Budget proposal saw active engagement from both the CC and DP Reps. Live governance actions continue to shape the future of Cardano, inviting community participation in various initiatives.
As Cardano continues to evolve, collaborative efforts across committees and working groups uphold transparency, evidence-based decision-making, and accessibility for all community members.
