Another ransom note from Nancy Guthrie sent to TMZ, requesting bitcoin in exchange
February 12, 2026
A recent twist in the mysterious case surrounding Nancy Guthrie involves a ransom note received by TMZ, supposedly demanding one bitcoin in exchange for crucial information regarding the elderly woman’s kidnapper. The note details a working bitcoin address where the $67,000 payment is expected to be made in return for revealing the identity of the individual involved in Nancy’s disappearance. This correspondence marks the third alleged ransom note to surface following Nancy’s last known whereabouts on January 31.
TMZ’s Harvey Levin disclosed during an appearance on Fox News’ “America Newsroom” that the ransom note specifies a specific bitcoin address for the requested payment, emphasizing the urgency by stating that “time is more than relevant.” While the authenticity of this demand remains uncertain, the mention of a real, active bitcoin address has raised eyebrows, prompting TMZ to pass on the note to the FBI for further investigation.
It’s worth noting that the bitcoin address provided in this latest ransom note differs from the one featured in the initial communication sent to local news stations and TMZ the week before. The current valuation of one bitcoin at approximately $67,000 surpasses the $50,000 reward already announced by law enforcement for credible information leading to the captors responsible for NBC star Savannah Guthrie’s mother.
Recent developments on the case saw law enforcement release the first images and videos of a suspect captured on a Nest doorbell camera at Nancy’s residence in Tucson, Arizona. The chilling surveillance footage displayed an individual disguised in winter gear, including a ski mask, gloves, zipped jacket, and backpack, approaching Nancy’s front entrance. Notably, the suspect also carried a visible gun holstered in an unconventional manner on the front of their pants.
This alarming footage led to the apprehension of a FedEx delivery driver, Carlos Palazuelos, in Rio Rico on Tuesday night. After stopping his gray SUV, authorities temporarily detained Palazuelos but later released him without charges following a search of his residence. Palazuelos, unaware of Nancy Guthrie or the ongoing investigation due to his lack of media consumption, remained figuratively in the dark about the unfolding events surrounding Nancy’s unexplained disappearance.
Nancy, an 84-year-old with medical needs requiring daily treatment and a pacemaker, was last seen alive on the night of January 31 when she was dropped off at her Catalina Foothills home by her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni. The absence of any confirmed leads or significant breakthroughs in the search for Nancy’s whereabouts continues to fuel public interest and concern, amplifying the urgency to resolve this baffling case involving a beloved member of the Guthrie family.
