Man Sentenced for False Claim of Being Bitcoin Creator and Suing Developers
An Australian computer scientist, Craig Wright, received a one-year suspended prison sentence after falsely claiming to be the creator of Bitcoin. The high court in London found him in contempt for continuously suing individuals despite court orders. Wright, who asserted intellectual property rights associated with Bitcoin, was discredited for lying about his role as the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto, the original creator of the cryptocurrency.
