Coffee lovers rejoice! A new study has found that drinking coffee may help reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. According to researchers, caffeine and polyphenols found in coffee have been shown to have a beneficial effect on brain health.

The study, published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, looked at the coffee consumption habits of over 1,400 individuals over the age of 65. The participants were followed for an average of 21 years, during which time 61% developed Alzheimer’s disease. However, those who drank 3-5 cups of coffee per day were found to be less likely to develop the disease compared to those who drank less than two cups a day.

While more research is needed to fully understand the relationship between coffee consumption and Alzheimer’s disease, these findings are promising. So go ahead and pour yourself another cup of coffee – it may just be good for your brain!
