Ethereum-Based Game ‘MetalCore’ Enters Open Beta on Epic Games Store
MetalCore, a mech shooter game, is gearing up for its open beta launch on the Epic Games Store on September 12, unveiling its first in-game season titled “MetalPunk Rhapsody.” The game, which operates on the Ethereum-based layer-2 scaling network Immutable zkEVM, will undergo an upgrade to Unreal Engine 5, introducing several new features.
Previously in closed beta phases, MetalCore’s developer Studio369 is now inviting all interested players to participate in the open beta. With the transition to Unreal Engine 5, the game is expected to run more smoothly compared to its previous Unreal Engine 4 version.
The upcoming season, MetalPunk Rhapsody, will inaugurate the game’s new seasonal format, with each season lasting approximately four weeks and offering exclusive rewards to players based on their performance within the game.
In a bid to enhance the immersive experience for players, MetalCore will focus on different factions within its universe with each season. The inaugural season will highlight the MetalPunk faction through themed content, skins, and narratives.
Exciting new features such as player-vs-environment (PvE) raids, where up to 10 players collaborate to battle alien species for resources, will be introduced. Additionally, vehicles and mechs in the game will receive new rarity and strength attributes, while the mission system has been significantly updated to provide a more engaging experience for both new and existing players.
The open beta launch follows the introduction of MetalCore’s native token MCG in June, which was accompanied by a closed beta test that required players to have an Epic Games Store key or purchase one of the Founders Packs. However, the open beta, starting September 12, will be accessible to all interested players for download.
The game’s lore and gameplay enhancements aim to elevate the gaming experience for players, offering a blend of action-packed battles, competitive leaderboards, and unique rewards. MetalCore’s transition to open beta signifies a significant milestone in its journey to engage a broader audience of gamers.
