XRP Surpasses Bitcoin, Solana, and Ethereum Combined in Key Metric in South Korea

The Ripple-associated XRP cryptocurrency is currently demonstrating greater trading volume than Bitcoin, Solana, and Ethereum collectively on Upbit, the primary exchange in South Korea. This surge in XRP’s trading activity is attributed to renewed enthusiasm following the resolution of the SEC v. Ripple lawsuit.

According to data from CoinGecko, XRP has experienced a surge of over 19% in value over the past 24 hours. Currently, XRP ranks as the sixth-largest cryptocurrency globally in terms of trading volume, trailing only behind Tether, Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDC, and Solana, with a daily trading volume nearing $5.6 billion.

Ripple was mandated to pay $125 million in penalties as part of the lawsuit settlement. Despite the substantial penalty, Ripple’s leadership views the resolution as a victory. This legal conclusion has brought a sense of relief to XRP holders who have endured the prolonged legal battle.

Earlier today, the XRP/BTC price witnessed a long-awaited uptick after months of underperformance. However, the sustainability of this price rally remains uncertain. In the wake of the July 2023 judgment ruling that deemed XRP’s secondary sales non-securities, the token experienced a brief surge in value before plummeting and significantly underperforming Bitcoin.

XRP is currently down by 82% from its all-time high, marking it as one of the poorest performing major cryptocurrencies. A singular price surge is insufficient to address the challenges faced by XRP holders, especially considering the potential for the SEC to appeal the Ripple ruling.

The recent positive momentum in XRP’s trading volume and value underscores the cryptocurrency’s resilience and investor confidence following the legal settlement. The crypto community awaits further developments to ascertain the lasting impact of these recent market dynamics on XRP’s trajectory and its ability to sustain growth amidst regulatory uncertainties.
